'Essential' work means road will be closed for nine weeks

Scottish Water will start the work at Markle Steading, near East Linton, on Monday.

A section of road at Markle Steading and the rail level crossing will be closed throughout the work.

A diversion route, taking in Pencraig Brae and East Linton, will be put in place.

A spokesperson for Scottish Water told the Courier: “No traffic, except for emergency vehicles, will be permitted through the rail crossing.

“Contingency plans are in place with the council for the local school bus to collect and drop off pupils as normal.

“The East Coast Railway Line will not be impacted by the work and will continue to operate as normal. Local resident access will also be maintained.

“The publicly owned utility will be operating Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm.

“All efforts will be made to minimise disruption where possible.

“The work will be carried out by Scottish Water’s delivery partner, Cleantech Civils.

“Scottish Water thanks residents and road users for their patience and understanding throughout the period of essential work.”
